GOOD TO KNOW
If your order includes refills and other items, and you chose to send your bowl back to our studio to be refilled, everything ships together once your bowl has returned to our studio and been refilled.
When you return your bowl to our studio, we hand-pour the wax directly into the vessel, creating a seamless finish. With a scented insert, the refill sits inside your existing bowl. A small gap may be visible initially, but this naturally disappears once the candle has been burned.

CANDLE CARE
How do I get the most out of my candle?
On the first burn, allow the wax to melt all the way to the edges. This helps prevent tunnelling and ensures a clean, even burn every time.
How do I minimise smoke and soot?
Trim your wooden wick to around 3mm before each burn. This keeps the flame low and steady, reducing smoke and creating a more refined, even burn. To extinguish, use a snuffer or gently blow out the flame.
Anything else I should know?
Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Discontinue use when approximately 10mm of wax remains to protect the vessel.
Keep away from children, pets, and flammable materials.
Always place your candle on a heat-resistant surface.
For our concrete vessels, we recommend avoiding direct contact with delicate surfaces.
How should I store my candle?
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. As we use natural soy wax, slight variations such as softening, sweating, or colour changes may occur in warmer conditions - this is completely normal and does not affect performance.
FAQ
Still deciding? Here’s what most customers ask before choosing their candle.
Will it scent a large or open-plan space?
Yes - the size and formulation allow the fragrance to travel beyond the immediate area, making them ideal for open-plan living, high ceilings, and larger rooms where smaller candles often disappear.
How strong is the scent?
Our candles are designed to be beautifully noticeable - we use a high fragrance load so the scent fills your space, creating an atmosphere you can feel as soon as you walk in.
Can you smell it when it’s not lit?
Yes - many customers notice the fragrance even before lighting.
The candle softly perfumes the space while unlit, and becomes more pronounced once burning.
What makes these different from other candles?
Our concrete candles combine strong, room-filling fragrance with a statement vessel that becomes part of your space - not something you hide away once finished.
And with our refill system, you can continue enjoying the same piece, again and again.
Do the candles burn evenly?
Yes - when cared for correctly, your candle will burn cleanly and evenly. We recommend allowing the wax to melt to the edges to prevent tunnelling and ensure the best performance over time.
How long does it burn for?
Our concrete candles are designed to be enjoyed over time, with a long, even burn. Burn time varies by size, but each candle is created to last.
Can I refill my candle?
Yes - every concrete candle is designed to be refilled. You can return your empty bowl to our Brisbane studio with free return shipping, or choose a scented insert for a quicker refresh at home.
What’s the difference between a refill and a scented insert?
When you return your bowl to our studio, we hand-pour the wax directly into the vessel, creating a seamless finish. With a scented insert, the refill sits inside your existing bowl. A small gap may be visible initially, but this naturally disappears once the candle has been burned.
Is this a good gift?
These are one of our most gifted pieces. The combination of scent, design, and longevity makes them a thoughtful option for birthdays, housewarmings, and those who are hard to buy for.
I'm a Brisbane local, can I visit your studio?
Yes, we’d love to welcome you.
Our studio is located in Hemmant, and visits are by appointment so we can give you the time and space to explore the collection. Simply email us at hello@lumenandluxe.com.au to arrange a time.
